Unibet offers a £50 free bet, but there is much more to this site than that. It is a one-stop-shop for sports betting, casino, poker, games, and bingo.
The company was formed in 1997 and by 1999 they’d registered Unibet International in Malta and launched an online presence in Swedish and English.
They’ve come a long way since then and are currently recognized as one of Europe’s biggest online gaming operators, with over 7 million members worldwide spanning more than 150 countries. Their sportsbook is tailored to individual countries in order to provide locals with betting coverage of their home country’s sporting events like the US in addition to other sports from around the world.
Unibet Review – Site experience
When you arrive at Unibet’s Sportsbook home page, you’re greeted by a fresh light green theme with plenty of white space to avoid that nasty cluttered look that many sports sites tend to end up with.
Along the top is a line of tabs labeled by-product (poker, bingo, games, live casino, etc), and just under that is your line of navigation menu items within the sportsbook tab itself. This is where you’ll find links to live betting, Supertoto, Live Scores, Stats, and Results.
The page layout underneath the navigation bar is arranged into 3 neat columns. Down the left side of the page is where you’ll find a list of all your sports, along with the number of opportunities within each in brackets, which is a handy feature.
Adding all these up results in literally thousands of betting opportunities! At the very top of the column is the live betting link, placed well, no doubt due to popular use. Under that you’ll see links to the Supertoto and Superscore coupons page for the keen soccer punter.
The coupons are actually laid out very cleanly, unlike other sites whose coupon pages can easily overwhelm all but the most seasoned punter! Under the Supertoto and Superscore links is where you’ll find your search bar for quick and easy event searching.
But to be honest you shouldn’t really have to use it unless you’re after something really specific, as directly underneath that is a conveniently placed list of all the day’s top sports and their events, along with your choice of how far in advance you’d like to view: 1 hour or 4 hours. Following that is a list of all available sports.
Unibet-free-bet At the top of the middle column is where you’ll find a nice big banner advertising other offerings under the Unibet umbrella, such as live casino, in addition to some of the sports section’s special promos, free bets, and bonus offers.
What’s nice about the banner is it’s mostly static images but even the animated sections are far from the glaring flashy irritants you may find on other sites, so it doesn’t detract from your experience. Under the banner you’ll find a couple of sports news items – but wait, one of those is actually a promotion!
This is a nice way to give one of Unibet’s best promos the headline space it deserves and they pull it off nicely here. Sadly, it’s at the expense of the live betting bar, which immediately follows, resulting in it placing just below the fold of the page, meaning you have to scroll down to see it, which is a bit of a shame really.
The live betting bar scrolls through the day’s top live betting events one at a time, along with their odds. Then you’ll see a box with tabs allowing you to see what’s coming up over the next 1 hour, 4 hours, the day’s most popular events and even a TV Guide, showing you the day’s televised events. Finishing off the middle column are another couple of promos in the news item style.
On to the right side column, and here they’ve managed to squish everything above the fold, just about! This is where you’ll find your login and join now boxes, your bet slip, a little ad about mobile betting at Unibet, and the help centre, offering you access to the FAQ section and details for contacting support.
Unibet Review – Sporting events
A quick look at the number in brackets next to All Bets will let you know how many betting opportunities are available to you at that current moment. At the time of writing this review, there were over 8,000 betting opportunities available. As you might have guessed, the majority of those come under All Football (soccer) at around 5,000.
In terms of sports variety, you’ll find all your favourites like soccer, tennis, golf, rugby, etc. If you’re looking for something a little more on the rare side, Unibet also offers betting on popular sports in Scandinavia (unsurprising, given they’re a Scandinavian operator!) such as Pesapallo (similar to baseball, but with vertical pitching), Trotting (harness racing), Bridge, Bandy (like Ice Hockey but with a round ball) and Floorball (similar to indoor hockey but with a dimpled, holed ball). If you like a great variety of unique sports, this website is definitely worth a look.
Unibet Review – Free Bet, Bonuses and Promotions
To get started at Unibet, there’s a £50 free bet available, but be sure to read the terms and conditions. For example, that’s where you’ll discover it’s available only for UK residents or UK citizens living abroad. It’s quite a good offer, giving you up to £50 as an initial deposit bonus. Again, check the T&Cs, as you’ll need to roll over the amount but you could end up withdrawing the bonus itself as well as any winnings.
Surprisingly, there is no link from the sports page to the promotions page, which is a shame, but they do list most, if not all, of their promos in the middle section of the sports home page. This firm likes to offer insurance type promos, such as money back on 0-0 Champions League matches, selected markets, and money back on losing 1st tryscorer bets on players who then go on to score the 2nd try in the Six Nations, for example. Bonus offers and promos will vary depending on your location so check them out.
Also worth trying is the live betting platform, Unibet TV, which allows you to follow all the live action as it unfolds, second by second, and bet on the various available markets, whose prices are updated live. And if mobile betting is your thing, they have their own mobile app for iPhone and Android devices, along with a £10 mobile free bet offer. Other mobile apps are also available, such as the Live Streaming Sports TV Guide and Football Stats Centre.
Payment methods are a bit on the sparse side, including Visa, Mastercard, Moneybookers, Neteller, Paysafecard, Ukash and bank transfer. These may vary depending on your location.
If you need help, they provide multilingual support via phone, online form and email. The site is available in 23 languages and the FAQ section should help answer your questions so check there first.
Unibet Review – Conclusion & Opinion
This is an interesting firm to add to your betting arsenal. It is Scandinavian focused so, while all world soccer events are covered, you will also find a good array of winter sports and other more esoteric betting events too. They have finally started covering UK horse racing. The casino and poker sections are excellent and they are one of the few sites to also offer backgammon. It is a company well worth joining and while the Unibet free bet is not one of the grandest, it is a nice sweetener.
